Meeting on Public Health Surveillance Network Between ASEAN and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) on 11-14 November 2009 in Noumea, New Caledonia

As part of the Indonesia project on Web-Based Information Sharing under the ASEAN Plus Three Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme, the Programme Coordination Group (PCG) approved the conduct of a Meeting on Public Health Surveillance Network Between ASEAN and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC). The Meeting between the representatives of ASEAN and the SPC is on 11-14 November 2009.

 

The objectives of the Meeting would be: to exchange information about, and identify potential links with the Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN); to exchange information and lessons learned on the regional initiatives and response to Influenza A(H1N1) 2009; and to exchange information about, and identify potential links with the SPC, more specifically SPC Public Health Programme for the Pacific Island region.

 

Representatives of the ASEAN Member States and Japan will be attending the Meeting. The ASEAN Secretariat (through the ASEAN Plus Three EID Programme) is coordinating the activities, agenda and the coordination with the counterparts in SPC. The results of the Meeting will be presented during the PCG Meeting on 18-20 November 2009.

The Information Centre on Emerging Infectious Diseases in the ASEAN Plus Three Countries was developed under the ASEAN Plus Three Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme of the ASEAN Secretariat, managed by the Indonesia Ministry of Health with financial assistance from Australian AID (AusAID)
